Talk To Me About Technology

Bootsie finds yarn balls and thinks they are her kittens.  She carries them around the house and yowls at them. Somehow, while Duane was napping, she tangled her kittens around his nasal canula.  The loop part that goes around his face.  He is not a sound sleeper and is wondering how she did this without him waking up. Unless he's in a medicated coma, all I have to to is touch him and he wake right up.  Imagine his surprise when he got up from a nap to find he was dragging around a big yarn tangle from his face.

I'm not a whiner or complainer, but please indulge me this once.  I have twenty-five minutes to walk 1.5 miles to punch into the computer at work.  Then 25 minutes to walk the 1.5 miles from work to the bus stop or I have to wait another 30 minutes for the next bus.  I almost didn't make it to the bus home tonight.  I'm short, 5 feet tall, so I have to step twice as much as taller people twice as fast.

My legs hurt so bad.  I'm sooo tired and hurt sooo much, I could cry.  Then thinking about my schedule the next week and a half, I want to cry.  I want to give up, but we know I won't.  I'm just hoping it will get easier once my body gets used to the walk.

Talk to me about technology.  When it comes to mobile devices, I'm a Luddite.  I have a tracphone with a bunch of minutes on it, from when I was on Safelink back in NY.  Those minutes are going to run out in a month with calling home every day while on break.  I'm going to tell you what I need and those of you in the know will suggest what I should look into getting.

The walk is boring, so I want to play music while I'm walking and maybe I won't notice the pain quite so much.  I would like to surf blogs and have patterns accessible while I'm on the bus and on break at work.  Texting is moot issue as I refuse to learn how to text. Text me and you will not get a response.   Do I get an Ipad and just pay as I go for the tracphone? I'll use about 300 - 400 minutes a month.  What?  Any ideas as to what I should look for?  Talk to me.

Get the iPhone - you can call, take photos and videos, play games, email, surf the net.. and maybe even learn to text. They have killer deals on the older ones now that the new iPhone 4S has come out.

Sorry about the walking. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Sorry the walking sucks. I just keep telling myself how amazingly fit and healthy I will be when pushing barrows up hills gets tough at work, one day I will be able to run up the hill without breaking a sweat :D

Seconding the iPhone. No idea what deals are like where you are, since you're in another country and all, but I have an old 3GS and it works just fine.

Texting on an iPhone is like emailing anyway, since you get a full QWERTY keyboard.

Hang on in there ♥

I have to agree with Teresa. You can get an older iPhone for $50 to $100. Hubs has one and he loves it. I know that the walk is difficult, but in a month, you'll be doing it in no time at all and be healthier than all of us. Hang in there!

It's a phone...no wait...it's an ipod...no wait...it's a way to surf the web...I know! I know! It's an iphone.

Be careful though. Once you go mac, you never go back.

To be fair, I don't have an ipad, though I do have a MacBook Pro and an iphone. Love them both.

FYI, my son got a Samsung Fascinate for free at Best Buy, though free is a relative thing. He did have to get the two year contract with Verizon. It stores music, surfs the web and acts as a phone, too. Truthfully? Any smart phone would likely get meet your professed needs, and data plans are cheap as long as you don't stream things like Pandora, you tube or netflix. For that kind of data streaming, you'll pay a premium. Searching Rav or reading blogs? Not a problem.

Got no suggestions on the phone. I have an old Samsung and you will have to pry it from my cold dead hands I love it so much. When it croaks I will be very sad :(

About the walk....make sure you wear comfortable shoes for it. Change em once you get to work if you have to for dress code or something, but comfortable shoes are a must!
