WIP Wednesday

A week seems to just speed right by.  When I got things together for pictures it seemed like I should have more to post.  It may be that I just have a bunch more projects on the brain than actively working on the needles.

I made a little more progress on the Abby cowl for my neighbor. This is laceweight alpaca than I spun and dyed awhile ago.  I do want to get this finished pretty quick as there is probably only another month of cold mornings.  She leaves for work before sun up so it's pretty chilly walking to and waiting at the bus stop.

I started Ice Queen for myself a couple days ago.  This seems like it might be a pretty quick (for me) knit. I'm using the Star Light I bought last month.  This yarn is wonderful soft and sparkley.  I told D I wished I had bought more for a light cropped cardigan.  The owner said it was flying out the door when I bought it, so I'm sure they probably don't have much left.

I finished one full bobbin of the BFL/silk and am almost finished with the second.  My third bobbin is still full with the last project, so Navajo plying that will be in my near future if I want to spin anymore.

The animals are agitate this morning.  I'm very angry with Bootsie this morning.  She jumped off the back of my chair to pounce Butterscotch sleeping on the futon.  She pounced my full cup of coffee sitting on the arm, spilling onto Butterscotch, futon and the camera.  Luckily, I was able to grab it and dry it before any coffee got inside.  Of course, now that I'm all agitated having a hard time sitting still, they all went for a nap.

Herbie is getting really big now.  He pokes his little head out of the box.

His cere is lavender so he may really be a he.  Huey's cere is lavender, darker now that he is older.  Boys are lavender, blue but sometimes white.  Girls are usually brown, tan and can be white.  Obviously, white is crap shoot of what they are and from what I've read only a genetic test can tell for sure.

He has dark blue feathers coming out around his tail area. There is still fluffy down for feathers around his rump and underside.

D and I took him out the box for little bit this morning.  After D left Ladybird got upset about it, so I put him back in the nest with the others.  The last couple weeks, they've sounded like crickets chirping on a summer day.  Lately, they sound more like angry, hungry crickets.

We've decided my green and yellow bird, Myrtle is a maniac.  She laid three eggs on the wires in the space between the seed cup and side of the cage.  Since she refused to use the Kleenex box we put in there, I got a small dish and filled it with Timothy hay to place her eggs for a next.  Well, she rolled them back to where she had them and that is where she is sitting on them.  I don't know if they'll hatch, or what I'll with them on the wire bars if they do.  For now, I'm letting her have it her way.  It's not like I'm trying to be a keet breeder.

We have the President here today.  Reports say that Gabrielle Giffords is continuing to improve, which is a really good sign.

That pink is so pretty, it looks a bit like cobwebs. The blue is also nice. I like things that knit quickly.

I always feel like I have much more on the needles than I do ... I think you're right its all those things we THINK about knitting next.

The birds are getting so big, amazing how quickly animals grow.

Wow, the Star Light yarn looks amazing. No wonder it's flying off the shelves!

Beautiful stuff! I've had ice queen in my queue for a while. Are you using beads? It's so pretty. Congratulations on the birdy baby boom! They're so ugly and so cute all at the same time. Enjoy!

I am always so impressed with your spinning and dyeing! (I hope you don't get tired of hearing it.) : ) Both your lace projects are beautiful, and it's fun to see the photos of the baby birds progress too.

Your spun and dyed alpaca is glorious. It looks like a cloud!

Hope things are going OK in Tucson. Wishing the best for Gifford, sigh.

I can't wait until I am knitting with my very own handspun. Thank you so much for your advice about spinning a little bit every day -- it's working! Now it doesn't seem like a big deal to sit down and get started, and I stop before I get tired, creaky, or frustrated.

What's she got on that bobbin, Precious? BFL? We're so jealous. Your WIPs are beautiful.

I watched Nightline last night. Bob Woodruff was reporting about recovery from traumatic brain injuries: his own, a Columbine survivor's and Jim Brady's. It was a hopeful piece. Only time will tell what will happen for Gabby Giffords, but I hope only the best for her full recovery to a meaningful life.

All that lace just makes me nervous just looking at it. The WIPs are beautiful, not to mention your handspun.

As always, your knitting is gorgeous! I can't get over how fast the birdies are growing! I come back each day just to see if I can tell what's changed.

The Ice Queen looks wonderful. Love that blue. Is it just me or do you always have a pink WIP :-). I always tend to have an orange or brown one.

What kind of spinning wheel do you have?

The babies are adorable and growing before our eyes, one WIPW at a time!

The blue yarn you are using is amazing. I love the color and can see why it would fly off the shelves! Can't wait to see both projects finished.

Your Ice Queen is looking lovely! The color is absolutely beautiful :)

I love all the birdy pics. I'd love to breed an animal at some point and I think birds are fascinating. Can't wait to watch them grow! :D

It sounds like the baby birds are making really good progress. It's very nice of you to knit for your neighbour but I'm glad you're making something for yourself as well!
