WIP Wednesday

It's that day of the week again. One good thing is that most of people I'm knitting gifts for are either unable to go online or just can't bothered with reading my blog.  There are no worries of me posting pictures and letting the cat out of the bag.

I  progressed half way the leg of the twin sister sock.  They should hopefully be finished by Friday.  Paws crossed.

A couple years ago, when my Mom and I went to Rhinebeck, she saw a cowl and mentioned she would like one.  I've been searching through the patterns on Ravely off and on for awhile now.  Then my good friend Carol posted a picture of a cowl she is knitting.  It's Ciara's Cowl by Knitabulous.  I had some dk weight merino/silk yarn I spun a few years back. Last night I had 8 pattern rows completed when I dropped and stitch and that thing ran to the ribbing like an Olympic sprinter.  I could figure out how knit it back to the top, so I went frogging.  It's back to where I was and I'm being extra careful to not drop a stitch.

Saturday night while watching Monarch Of The Glen, Butterscotch and I finished spinning the Shetland singles.  (Please note that is not a bad make up job, that is my tan from going out walking during the week.)

It took me 4 days to play 6 ounces of fine lace weight singles.  I'm dreading hand winding all that off onto my niddy noddy.

Current spinning is another 4 oz braid of alpaca I had dyed in variegated dusty rose.  I plan to spin some bleach tussah silk for the other ply.  Trying to decide if I want to dye the silk a pale pink first before the spinning.  I'm not a big fan of spinning silk as the fibers are so fine and wispy like babies hair.

For more WIP Wednesday posts please visit Tami's Amis Blog as she hosts a Mr. Linky.  The bunnies want to thank those that left comments on their post. It does seem to have went Dammit's head.  He has decided he wants to be a paperback writer and put a laptop on his list to Santa Claus.

It's your orange kitty polydactyl? My Mom has a black cat that is - he looks like he's got boxing gloves - it's too cute!

A cat! In a bag! Picture puns are the best. Can't wait to see how that pretty pink roving turns out!

Love the kitty pics! How nice you were able to get some sun this week! It's been amazing weather here as well.

I love the color of the dyed fiber! I can't wait to see it spun into beautiful yarn!

I came to admire the knitting, which I did, but your spinning especially is incredible! Your kitties are cute too. It looks like they help out with the fiber arts quite a bit!

Hi Denise, loved your blog today. I have a spinning wheel and have spun a lot in the past, I need to get it down from upstairs and get it re-strung, the grandkids have it so tangled up it's not even funny. What do you use to spin on? I don't recognize what you're using.

Hugs, Teresa

The lace weight yarn....oh the things that could be made with that! Beautiful. I broke down and told the Hubby that I want to take a spinning class. Maybe that's what I'll get for Christmas! Of course, then I'll want to learn how to dye it too :)
